It's the end of the world as we know it?

So it's been all over the news today, that CERN has fired up it's Large Hadron Collider and send a stream of particles all the way round. While this isn't the dangerous part, once they get two streams going in the opposite direction all sorts of interesting things might happen. Anti-matter, black holes, end of the world type stuff (or so the hype might have us believe).

So if you're at all concerned may I suggest the following website

which help waylay some concerns.

I think this is just one huge conspiracy by the physicists to try to make us think they are interesting. "Ooh, we're doing something in SWITZERLAND and it could lead to the END OF THE WORLD". One physics teacher pretty much admitted it: "This has made kids ask loads of questions. It's a great time to be a physics teacher".

Honestly, doesn't that make you suspicious? It's clearly never a good time to be a physics teacher.
